The Independent National Electoral Commission says it has formally notified Senator Dino Melaye of the demand by the people of his constituency to recall him from the Senate. INEC said that the decision to inform Melaye was taken at its meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, where the petition submitted by voters in the Kogi-West senatorial district was considered. It also said that the petitioners and Dino Melaye would receive a notice by the commission on July 3rd, on when it would begin the verification of the signatures of those who signed the notice. A National Commissioner of INEC, Madam Mohammed Haruna, disclosed the commission’s decision in a statement issued in Abuja. Aggrieved voters from Melaye’s constituency were at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday where they presented their petition on their demand for the recall of the senator. There is palpable fear at the Lagos State Model College, Kankon, Badagry, as kidnappers have threatened to abduct some pupils and staff members of the school. It was learnt that the kidnappers sent two letters of the same content to the junior and senior sections of the college respectively. The CCB allegedly seized Ketamine/Crystal Meth and other articles valued at Rs 2.50 lakh from the culprits. The articles seized included 6.4 gram Cocaine, Ketamine/Crystal Meth 0.8 gram, 14 mobile phones, 3 Passports, portable Weighing Machine and 3 two wheelers. Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has invited a senator from Anambra State, Stella Oduah, for questioning over the N255 million car purchase scandal. Ms. Oduah, a former Minister of Aviation, would be grilled about her role in the controversial purchase of bulletproof cars which ridiculed the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan, the Nation reported. The paper said Ms. Oduah was slated to appear before anti-graft detectives on Wednesday for questions that would border mostly around a petition the agency received over the N255 million spent in purchasing the exotic BMW vehicles. Lagos – An unemployed man, Mathias Attah, 20, was on Wednesday charged before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping a teenager. Attah, residing at No. 5, Kareem Babatunde St., Dopemu, near Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of rape and unlawful escape from custody. The Prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told court that the offences were committed on May 31 and June 7 at the residence of the accused. Ogu described the accused as a friend to the brother of the rape victim. “The girl was on her way back from school when the accused called her. “The accused could not hold himself.
